Purpose

To advance New Jersey’s leadership in the online gaming and financial technology (FinTech) industries and to promote economic mobility for underserved New Jersey residents via workforce development initiatives, innovation and new business incubation in the FinTech and Online Gambling industries, with a particular focus on:

  • Sustainable practices like responsible gaming
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion
Gamble4Good

Gamble4Good is a program created by the Innovation Center to address the perception issues faced by the legal/regulated gambling industry. These negative perceptions create significant headwinds for the industry including slowing growth, increased regulatory restrictions and fines, and issues attracting top talent. Gamble4Good is a comprehensive approach to dealing with all the areas of the industry that impact how it is perceived.

ACTIVITIES

Established by NJEDA in partnership with New Jersey City University, the Fintech & Sports Wagering (FTSW) Innovation Center is bringing together a community in the FinTech and Sports Wagering industries made up of small, medium and large companies, startups, entrepreneurs, venture capital and other investors, university & high school students, faculty, and government. Our goal is to foster connections, provide learning and workforce development opportunities, connect employers to talent, and to help launch new businesses in these spaces. Additionally we seek to be a leading voice in these industries around sustainable and responsible practices (particularly Responsible Gambling) and growing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. To do this, FTSW Innovation Center will pursue the following activities:

Create research and publications

Co-working space

Pitch competitions and hackathons

Start-up incubation and acceleration programs

Resource and best practice sharing

Provide guidance to regulators and government
